Focus on implementing coupled physics algorithms, time-stepping and solver methods, multilingual simulation APIs, and validating spacecraft mission performance.

Location: Hybrid work near Denver or Colorado Springs, with some work required onsite; the posting also lists Denver, CO or Long Beach, CA.

Base salary: $75,000 in Denver or $80,000 in Long Beach per year.

Company

hirify.global develops autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors for space superiority and defense missions.

What you will do

  • Write efficient, maintainable C++17/C++20 code and participate in code reviews.
  • Develop multi-physics spacecraft simulation libraries covering 6DOF rigid-body dynamics, thermal systems, attitude control, propulsion, power, sensors, and actuators.
  • Implement coupled physics algorithms for interactions between spacecraft subsystems.
  • Develop and test time-stepping algorithms, solvers, and integration schemes for real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation.
  • Maintain Python and C++ APIs used by internal mission-planning and spacecraft-operations applications.
  • Collaborate on architecture, sprint planning, trade-space analysis, and mission simulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or a similar discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Exposure to C++ or another compiled language and foundational knowledge of object-oriented development, testing, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance are required.
  • Must be located near Denver or Colorado Springs and able to work onsite when required.
  • Must meet U.S. space technology export-control requirements, including ITAR eligibility.

Nice to have

  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation, numerical methods, spacecraft subsystems, orbital mechanics, quaternion mathematics, or coordinate-frame transformations.
  • Knowledge of model validation, verification, uncertainty quantification, Git, or CI/CD pipelines.

Culture & Benefits

  • Three-month temporary employment engagement with potential conversion to regular employment based on performance and business need.
  • Hybrid work environment with onsite collaboration and work involving spacecraft simulation systems.
  • Opportunity to learn from experienced engineers in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team.
