Statutory Data Returns Manager (Higher Education Data): Leading the preparation, validation, and submission of statutory student data returns across Regent College London with an accent on data quality, regulatory compliance, and cross-system data flows. Focus on assuring complex datasets, resolving data integrity issues, interpreting changing reporting requirements, and managing a small team through time-dependent regulatory submissions.

Location: Hybrid in London, Greater London, United Kingdom; 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Salary: Up to £55,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead a team responsible for preparing, validating, and submitting statutory student data returns.
  • Manage returns including HESA, OfS, Data Futures, HESES, Provider Profile, Discover Uni, NSS, and Graduate Outcomes.
  • Define assured statutory datasets, data definitions, quality checks, validation processes, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues across systems in collaboration with data owners, stewards, producers, academic staff, and administrative teams.
  • Interpret regulatory reporting requirements, advise senior management on compliance impacts, and liaise with regulators and auditors.
  • Manage projects, improve data collection and reporting systems, and support BI and data warehouse decision-making.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience working with large and complex datasets and managing statutory returns in higher education or the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of data quality assurance, data protection legislation, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with data manipulation tools, Microsoft Office, data visualization tools, and relational database systems.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory information, assess data sources, and communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Project management skills for time-dependent regulatory analyses and submissions.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with higher education data systems such as HESA and HESES.
  • Knowledge of the UK higher education sector, national policy, data governance frameworks, and data integration techniques.
  • Experience with Power BI, Microsoft 365, cloud-based data management, and advanced SQL.
  • Understanding of machine learning and statistical analysis techniques.
