Senior Software Engineer (React/Node)

Location: Remote

Salary: $160,000–$195,000 per year; compensation varies by geographic location, experience, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead architecture and delivery across the Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend.
• Build integrations connecting services with the Node.js and NestJS PBM platform.
• Own complex systems, participate in architectural decisions, and improve reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Set testing and code-quality standards, identify risks early, and write maintainable, well-tested code.
• Review code and mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with product and design partners to deliver thoughtful software solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building production software.
• Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React.
• Solid backend experience with Ruby on Rails, Node, or similar frameworks.
• Experience building APIs with GraphQL or REST and working across multiple backend technologies.
• Ability to own complex systems and improve them over time in a collaborative, pragmatic, product-minded environment.
• Ability to work remotely and lead adoption of AI tooling in the engineering workflow.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby and Rails, Node, NestJS, and TypeScript backend services.
• Experience with Protobuf or gRPC.
• Familiarity with healthcare systems, regulated environments, sensitive data, and privacy considerations.
• Startup or fast-paced product experience.
• Experience establishing team standards for AI-assisted development workflows.
