Director, Data Science - Earnings Innovation & Automation (AI)

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas, United States

Annual salary: $130,000–$260,000 for the Bentonville position. Additional compensation may include performance bonuses and stock.

hirify.global operates a global independent-contractor earnings team responsible for calculating, disbursing, and reporting contractor earnings and tax processes.

What you will do

• Define and lead the AI/ML strategy for contractor earnings, tax, and compliance.
• Identify and deliver use cases such as anomaly detection, tax classification, and risk monitoring.
• Build and lead a high-performing data science tiger team to prototype, test, and scale solutions.
• Develop ML and GenAI automation that improves accuracy, reduces manual effort, and enhances stakeholder experience.
• Embed transparency, auditability, compliance, and governance into AI solutions.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and Governance to scale solutions into production and deliver measurable impact.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI, including 3–5+ years leading high-performing teams.
• Strong experience building and scaling production-grade ML/AI solutions in complex environments.
• Deep technical expertise in Python, SQL, and modern ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Hands-on experience with GenAI and LLMs applied to business problems.
• Strong understanding of model governance, explainability, and risk management.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, or 8 years of experience in analytics or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, tax, or compliance-heavy domains.
• Experience with optimization models, Spark, Scala, R, or open-source ML frameworks.
• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
• Supervisory experience and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
