Principal Electrical Engineer (Offshore)

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, hirify.global office; rotational travel to ADNOC offshore facilities is required for site surveys, brownfield assessments, installation verification, and engineering data collection.

What you will do

• Act as the electrical discipline technical authority and support the lead electrical engineer on ADNOC offshore projects.
• Develop, review, and approve electrical philosophies, design bases, specifications, load lists, single-line diagrams, equipment sizing, cable schedules, earthing, lighting, and hazardous-area designs.
• Prepare and review power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, transient stability, harmonic, arc flash, protection coordination, and relay setting calculations.
• Review vendor technical documentation, perform technical bid evaluations, support procurement, and attend factory acceptance tests for major electrical equipment.
• Lead power system adequacy assessments, brownfield modifications, facility upgrades, site surveys, and integration of changes into operating offshore assets.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, OEMs, certification authorities, construction, commissioning, and HSE stakeholders.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in oil and gas or industrial projects, including at least 5 years in offshore oil and gas.
• Significant ADNOC Offshore project experience is mandatory.
• Experience across Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, brownfield modifications, offshore site surveys, and facility upgrades.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of power generation, transmission, distribution, MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS, batteries, emergency power, and power management systems.
• OPITO-approved BOSIET or T-BOSIET certification and H₂S certification are preferred, with a minimum of six months’ validity requested for the offshore certification.

Nice to have

• Chartered Engineer, PE, or equivalent certification.
• Experience with ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT, and AVEVA/SPEL Electrical.
• Knowledge of IECEx/ATEX certification and hazardous-area installation practices.
