Head of Platform Engineering

What you will do

• Lead the Platform Infrastructure team covering internal engineering platforms and infrastructure delivered to customers.
• Own the reliability, security, cost effectiveness, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement of cloud infrastructure.
• Launch dedicated single-tenant hosting, including tenancy isolation, provisioning, upgrades, patching, operational tooling, and per-tenant cost models.
• Own Helm charts, the Terraform provider, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, deployment standards, and observability defaults as supported products.
• Establish cloud cost attribution, anomaly detection, quantified efficiency improvements, incident response practices, and production-readiness standards.
• Grow the Platform Infrastructure team through hiring, mentorship, career planning, and collaboration with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• Experience leading infrastructure, platform, or SRE teams with direct accountability for production reliability.
• Deep enterprise experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
• Experience shipping infrastructure that customers deploy and operate themselves, including versioning, backward compatibility, upgrade paths, and support.
• Strong security architecture expertise, cloud cost management experience, and the ability to build commercially defensible cost models.
• Experience building incident response practices and handling complex incidents involving customer infrastructure.
• Ability to make architectural decisions, collaborate with senior engineers, and present to leadership and customers.

Nice to have

• Experience with single-tenant, dedicated, or customer-isolated deployments and fleet-wide provisioning and upgrades.
• Developer productivity or internal developer platform experience.
• Experience with scientific, research, high-performance computing, batch, or data-intensive environments.
• Experience with multiple cloud providers, release engineering, open-source communities, or enterprise life-sciences compliance frameworks.
