Head of Cloud Platform Engineering (AWS)

What you will do

• Own the component-level architecture and operations of the AWS cloud estate, combining AWS-native services with open-source and self-managed components.
• Operate and improve platforms supporting MarketFlow, MeterFlow and DCC adapter, with accountability for resilience, performance and scalability at national transaction volumes.
• Design and maintain disaster recovery, high-availability, capacity and observability standards.
• Own FinOps, including cost visibility, forecasting, tagging, allocation and ongoing cost optimisation.
• Own cloud security across IAM, network security, encryption, vulnerability management and patching in line with ISO/IEC 27001 requirements.
• Remain hands-on with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, platform tooling, incident management, vendor relationships and the development of a platform engineering team.

Requirements

• Experience owning cloud platforms for regulated, high-availability or critical-infrastructure environments.
• Deep hands-on AWS expertise across compute, storage, networking, data and security services.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms using Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka or equivalent messaging, and Prometheus/Grafana or equivalent observability tools.
• Strong FinOps, cloud security, infrastructure-as-code and mature CI/CD experience.
• Experience delivering high availability, disaster recovery, performance testing and scalability at production scale.
• Willingness to participate in on-call and incident response for critical services.

Nice to have

• Current AWS certification, such as Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional or Security Specialty.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Understanding of utility or energy-sector data and resilience requirements.
