Structural Engineer - Nuclear

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid on-site work in the North West UK.

Salary: GBP 40,000–60,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and analyse reinforced concrete and steel structures for nuclear facilities and related infrastructure.
• Perform structural calculations and modelling in line with Eurocodes, ETC-C, applicable design standards, and nuclear safety requirements.
• Assess seismic, dynamic, environmental, and temporary construction loading conditions to ensure structural integrity and resilience.
• Evaluate design changes, recommend structural modifications, and support construction through site assessments and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with contractors, site teams, clients, principal designers, and regulatory authorities on CDM and nuclear safety compliance.

Requirements

• Strong experience in reinforced-concrete structural design.
• Experience in nuclear, energy, or another highly regulated industry.
• Solid knowledge of Eurocodes and nuclear-related design standards.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• 3–10 years of experience and eligibility to obtain UK BPSS security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with EPR nuclear power plant projects.
• Familiarity with BIM environments and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Previous leadership or team management experience on complex engineering projects.
