Firmware Automation Engineer (AI Cloud)

Location: Fully remote within the EU

Building a European AI cloud for training, experimenting with, and deploying AI models on GPUs powered by renewable energy.

What you will do

• Design and operate zero-touch firmware update pipelines across servers, switches, accelerators, and other fleet hardware.
• Manage firmware lifecycles for systemboards, BIOS/UEFI, BMCs, InfiniBand HCAs, network switches, and high-performance GPUs.
• Use Redfish and IPMI APIs to discover, configure, inventory, and update bare-metal assets at scale.
• Build telemetry, health checks, canary deployments, and automated rollback mechanisms to limit the impact of faulty firmware updates.
• Integrate firmware automation with SaltStack, Ansible, and provisioning workflows.
• Investigate hardware errata and CVEs in collaboration with hardware vendors and internal platform teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing firmware updates across thousands of nodes simultaneously.
• Expertise with the DMTF Redfish specification, out-of-band communication, and telemetry collection.
• Strong understanding of firmware management across systemboards, InfiniBand/Ethernet networks, and GPU architectures.
• Experience validating hardware health after boot and executing safe unattended rollbacks.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or advanced shell scripting, along with Ansible or SaltStack.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenBMC or custom BMC firmware images.
• Experience with NVIDIA/Mellanox firmware tools such as mstflint and mlxup.
• Experience managing firmware in AI/ML training clusters or HPC environments.
