Senior Systems Engineer (Microsoft 365 & Azure)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; on-site work in the San Diego area is required as needed.

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID, and Defender for Office 365.
• Design and manage Azure infrastructure and platform services covering virtual machines, networking, storage, Azure Virtual Desktop, monitoring, and identity.
• Lead cloud migrations, hybrid identity configurations, and modernization from on-premises Active Directory and Exchange environments.
• Implement security baselines, conditional access, compliance configurations, and Zero Trust principles across Microsoft 365 and Azure.
• Automate administration and reporting with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Azure CLI, Bicep, ARM templates, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Troubleshoot complex identity, messaging, endpoint, collaboration, and cloud infrastructure issues while documenting solutions, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with clients, project managers, and security teams.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Secret security clearance or higher is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of progressive systems engineering experience, including 6–7 years focused on Microsoft 365 and Azure in enterprise environments.
• Advanced Microsoft 365 administration, Azure IaaS and PaaS, networking, Entra ID, monitoring, security, hybrid identity, directory synchronization, and cloud migration experience.
• Advanced PowerShell skills and familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code tools, along with knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and certificate services.
• Ability to work on-site in the San Diego area and support occasional after-hours or on-call needs.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, MS-102, SC-300, or SC-400.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal clients, including DISA STIGs and FedRAMP.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, Intune, Microsoft Defender, Terraform, Bicep, or other Azure infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Prior consulting or professional services experience.
