Observability Engineer (OpenTelemetry)

What you will do

• Develop and enhance Python SDK libraries for telemetry collection and observability.
• Design and maintain ADOT collector configurations, including pipelines, processors, and exporters.
• Implement OpenTelemetry extensions for custom metrics, custom spans, and configurable telemetry.
• Build and optimize export pipelines for AWS CloudWatch Metrics and AWS X-Ray.
• Create YAML-driven telemetry configuration schemas and collaborate on observability requirements and standards.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, testing, troubleshooting, and platform performance improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in observability engineering, platform engineering, or a related field.
• Experience designing and implementing ADOT or OpenTelemetry collector pipelines.
• Experience developing Python SDKs, libraries, or reusable software components.
• Experience integrating AWS CloudWatch Metrics and AWS X-Ray.
• Experience with YAML-based configuration management and source control systems.
• Understanding of metrics, traces, telemetry pipelines, and collaborative software development practices.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Strands and LangGraph.
• Experience designing customer-facing SDK extensibility patterns.
• Experience with CloudWatch custom metrics and dimensions.
• Knowledge of cloud-native observability architectures, distributed systems, and platform engineering environments.
