Head of Legal (Fintech)

Location: Riga, Latvia · Fully remote

Salary: Up to €10,000 gross per month, depending on experience and expertise.

hirify.global supports an international FinTech business building and launching a regulated European payments and acquiring operation.

What you will do

• Lead the legal function across Latvia, Cyprus, and other relevant jurisdictions.
• Support the EMI business, regulatory matters, and interactions with Latvijas Banka and other authorities.
• Advise on acquiring, merchant relationships, PSPs, processors, financial institutions, and card schemes.
• Guide founders, the Board, and C-level management on strategic legal, regulatory, and commercial matters.
• Structure cross-border operations, intercompany relationships, financial arrangements, and international tax matters with the CFO.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, payment, and partnership agreements while coordinating external legal, tax, and regulatory advisers.

Requirements

• Senior legal experience in payments, acquiring, EMI, PSP, FinTech, banking, or regulated financial services.
• Strong understanding of acquiring, merchant relationships, card schemes, and the international payments ecosystem.
• Knowledge of European and international financial and corporate law, EMI/PI regulation, and European financial regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with cross-border corporate structures, intercompany arrangements, international taxation, and transfer pricing.
• Strong commercial contracting and negotiation skills.
• English and Russian required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Visa, Mastercard, or other card scheme environments.
• Experience interacting with Latvijas Banka or another European financial regulator.
