What you will do

• Maintain corporate governance frameworks, board resolutions, and UBO change processes for regulated entities.
• Manage VASP and EMI licensing obligations, including renewal applications and primary supervisory relations.
• Lead the legal build-out of payment infrastructure by negotiating agreements with banks, PSPs, and crypto exchanges.
• Review AML/CFT policy frameworks and oversee the legal implementation of the FATF Travel Rule.
• Provide day-to-day legal support for commercial agreements, client terms, and regulatory capital requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with 6+ years of PQE in payments, e-money, or digital asset sectors.
• Hands-on experience driving EMI, PI, or VASP license applications to full authorization.
• Deep knowledge of PSD2, MiCA, and FATF Recommendation 15 and 16 standards.
• Strong foundation in corporate law and managing statutory registers in common law jurisdictions.
• Practical experience negotiating correspondent banking and custody agreements for high-risk industries.
• Excellent written English for producing memoranda and submissions suitable for Tier 1 financial regulators.

Nice to have

• In-house experience at a crypto payment processor, EMI, or payments fintech.
• Exposure to FATF grey-list jurisdictions and associated banking access challenges.
• Knowledge of crypto and digital asset tax classification (utility, security, payment tokens).
• Experience with safeguarding audits, wind-down planning, and resolution frameworks for EMIs.
• Familiarity with legal frameworks for stablecoin issuance and reserve management.
