Sr. Software Engineer, Enterprise AI Enablement Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. The role follows a 70/30 work model with 70% in-office collaboration. Due to U.S. export control requirements, only U.S. persons are eligible.

Salary: $145,900–$234,200 annually, with possible discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Productionize agentic AI applications from discovery and architecture through development, testing, deployment, stabilization, and operational handoff.
• Refactor early-stage applications into modular services, APIs, user interfaces, and data models while preserving business intent.
• Design and evaluate LLM and agent workflows, including tool use, structured outputs, contextual retrieval, model selection, and failure testing.
• Create reusable agent skills, migration playbooks, reference architectures, evaluation harnesses, and deployment patterns.
• Diagnose application, data, platform, and infrastructure issues using logs, metrics, and root-cause analysis.
• Embed security, privacy, data classification, traceability, compliance, documentation, and operational metrics into the engineering lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, bioinformatics, computational science, data science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of professional software, data, or computational engineering experience, including at least 2 years with machine learning, LLM, or agentic AI applications.
• Strong Python skills and experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, or another modern application-development language.
• Experience designing modular services and APIs, relational databases and data models, automated testing, version control, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud engineering.
• Hands-on experience with model APIs, tool or function calling, prompt and context design, structured outputs, evaluation, and failure-mode testing.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws; non-U.S. persons are not eligible for this position.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, research, or another scientifically complex environment.
• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms, high-throughput data processing, workflow orchestration, PostgreSQL, Redshift, or Athena.
• Experience building reusable agent infrastructure, model-provider abstractions, evaluation frameworks, contextual retrieval systems, or application-development harnesses.
• Experience in regulated or quality-sensitive environments, including secure data handling, provenance, auditability, architecture review, and validation.
