Principal Software Engineer/Principal AI Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, United States

Salary: $115,400–$192,300 annual base pay, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Lead technical execution for an embedded Innovation Squad from discovery through production.
• Build, evaluate, harden, and productionize AI prototypes and proofs of concept.
• Design reusable agentic AI patterns covering orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval, and production guardrails.
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems, APIs, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and managed AI/ML services.
• Convert validated solutions into reusable patterns, reference implementations, and starter kits for other functions.
• Work with stakeholders and end users, define requirements, make architecture decisions, measure outcomes, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on AI system design, development, or integration and taking enterprise AI prototypes to production.
• Experience with LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, context-window management, production guardrails, MCP, tool-augmented agents, and enterprise-scale RAG.
• Experience integrating AI through APIs and data pipelines with strong security, data governance, and data residency practices.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Agile, CI/CD, modern SDLC, and TDD.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL, and relevant AI SDKs, plus relational, columnar, and vector data stores.
• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field; advanced degree preferred.
