Principal Software Engineer/Principal AI Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, United States

Salary: $115,400–$192,300 gross annual base pay, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Lead technical execution for an embedded Innovation Squad from discovery and requirements definition through production delivery.
• Assess, harden, and deliver AI prototypes and proofs of concept in enterprise environments.
• Design reusable agentic AI patterns covering orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval, and production guardrails.
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems through APIs and data pipelines while meeting security, compliance, and data-governance standards.
• Codify validated solutions into reusable patterns, reference implementations, and starter kits for adoption across functions.
• Establish measurable baselines, advise on infrastructure and budgets, coordinate stakeholders and external resources, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on AI system design, development, or integration and taking enterprise AI prototypes to production.
• Experience with LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, context-window management, MCP, tool-augmented agents, RAG, and production guardrails.
• Strong enterprise integration, security, data governance, data residency, and architectural experience across relational, columnar, and vector stores.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and managed AI/ML services, plus Agile, CI/CD, modern SDLC, and TDD.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, TypeScript or JavaScript, SQL, and relevant AI SDKs.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field; advanced degree preferred.
