Industrial Placement Product Development

Develop products that improve how people interact with technology in the workplace through industrial design, engineering and manufacturing expertise.

What you will do

• Support product development projects across concept, development, testing and launch.
• Create CAD models, visualisations, technical drawings and presentation materials.
• Support prototyping, testing and technical investigations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, datasheets, instructions and technical graphics.
• Support document control, database management, customer specials and field support.
• Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing and Operations teams in reviews, workshops and project meetings.

Requirements

• Currently studying Industrial Design, Product Design, Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline as part of a sandwich-year degree programme.
• Genuine interest in product development and physical products.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage varied priorities, contribute to a team and maintain attention to detail.
• Willingness to develop technical and professional skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Sketching, visual communication or technical drawing skills.
• Understanding of engineering principles, design processes, product development methods, materials or manufacturing processes.
• Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or interest in emerging digital and AI-assisted design tools.
