Senior AWS DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States. U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Lead the migration and modernization of legacy applications and infrastructure to secure, scalable AWS cloud-native platforms.
• Design, deploy, and operate AWS environments across development, testing, staging, and production, including hybrid-cloud integrations.
• Build reusable Infrastructure as Code modules, automation, CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, and GitOps deployment patterns.
• Implement security guardrails, compliance controls, monitoring, incident response, backup and recovery, and operational reliability practices.
• Apply FinOps practices to improve cost visibility, allocation, rightsizing, scheduling, and cloud efficiency.
• Mentor engineers, document architectures and operating procedures, and present technical recommendations to leadership and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of experience in cloud, DevOps, platform engineering, systems administration, infrastructure automation, or related roles, including 5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience.
• Production AWS experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, configuration management, scripting, Linux administration, CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with AWS security, networking, IAM, monitoring, governance, regulated environments, and FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST-based, or comparable controls.
• Experience with FinOps, complex infrastructure and deployment troubleshooting, cross-functional collaboration, technical documentation, and mentoring.
• Must be a U.S. citizen. An active AWS Professional-level certification is required at hire, or must be obtained within six months of hire.

Nice to have

• AWS Specialty or HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification.
• Public-sector, federal, FedRAMP Moderate or High, FISMA, or NIST 800-53 experience.
• GitLab Runners, ArgoCD, Flux, observability, vulnerability management, incident response, disaster recovery, service mesh, WAF, and advanced Kubernetes experience.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications through rehosting, replatforming, refactoring, containerization, microservices, or cloud-native adoption.
• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
