CG Layout Artist

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia. Remote work is available within BC; artists in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland may also choose hybrid or in-studio work. Applicants must have resided in BC since December 31, 2025 and be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Salary: $1,200–$1,450 CAD per week for Vancouver, British Columbia.

What you will do

• Create shot sequences that convey stories through traditional filmmaking principles in a 3D environment.
• Establish character blocking, position cameras, and animate camera movement.
• Interpret storyboards and enhance the story through cinematic shot layout.
• Collaborate with the storyboard team, Layout Supervisor, Directors, and production management.
• Meet assigned deadlines and stay current with relevant technologies.

Requirements

• Experience with Maya or other professional animation software.
• Strong layout, animation, and cinematography skills.
• Excellent visual storytelling skills and the ability to interpret storyboards.
• Good understanding of character posing and lighting.
• Ability to collaborate, take direction, and respond to supervisor feedback.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and BC residency since December 31, 2025 are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of feature or series animation production pipelines.
• Knowledge of modeling, lighting, and texturing.
