Vehicle Operator (CDL) - Night Shift (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: On-site at hirify.global’s Lancaster, Texas terminal; base shift 11:00 PM–7:30 AM Central Time. Start and end times may change with customer demand, and overnight travel may be required.

hirify.global is developing generative AI for the physical world, beginning with autonomous trucks and combining R&D testing with commercial freight operations.

What you will do

• Manually drive Class 8 combination vehicles and passenger vehicles for mapping, shadow missions, yard moves, transports, drayage, scouting, and repositioning.
• Operate autonomous vehicles on public roads and test tracks while remaining ready to assume manual control.
• Apply takeover guidance, monitor vehicle surroundings, disengage when safety or operational risks require it, and provide detailed situational feedback.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, photo documentation, ELD records, fueling, weighing, and compliance procedures.
• Execute customer loads according to committed schedules, communicate delays, and follow platform-specific SOPs and charging procedures.
• Collaborate with Fleet Specialists, engineers, technicians, facilities, and other crews to improve annotations, fleet readiness, safety, and SOP documentation.

Requirements

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License and valid DOT medical certification required.
• At least three years of recent commercial driving experience with combination vehicles.
• Exemplary motor vehicle record and successful background check and DOT drug and alcohol screening, reviewed individually.
• Experience using electronic logging devices and independently managing Hours of Service compliance.
• Availability for overnight, late-night, weekend, holiday, extended, and potentially consecutive shifts of up to approximately 14 hours under DOT regulations.
• Clear verbal and written feedback skills, basic computer proficiency, and ability to work collaboratively in a changing operational environment.

Nice to have

• Autonomous vehicle, robotics, or vehicle testing experience.
• Substantial overnight or team-driving experience and computer systems troubleshooting skills.
• Enhanced Pre-trip Inspector certification.
• A million-mile safe driving record or equivalent recognition.
