Principal Software Engineer (Fullstack/Angular)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; work-from-home flexibility with on-site support as required

Basic compensation: $150,000–$190,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical full-stack applications across front-end, back-end, and service layers.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, architecture guidance, and engineering mentorship across multiple software teams.
• Define and evolve application, integration, data, and event-driven architectures for distributed mission systems.
• Build modern Angular interfaces, scalable backend services, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Help resolve complex performance, scalability, integration, security, and architectural challenges.
• Partner with platform engineering, DevSecOps, systems engineering, product, and operational stakeholders to improve delivery pipelines and translate mission needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including distributed systems and full-stack web and enterprise architectures.
• Expert-level experience with Angular or similar modern front-end frameworks, plus scalable backend services and APIs.
• Extensive experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, event streaming, and distributed systems design.
• Experience with Agile development, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, technical leadership, communication, and mentoring.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or higher clearance and a master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with Space Systems Command, DoD programs, SATCOM, mission systems, operational C2 systems, or space-related applications.
• Experience with microservices, Kubernetes, cloud-native environments, API gateways, service meshes, and modern integration frameworks.
• Experience with Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, RabbitMQ, NATS, observability platforms, software supply-chain security, SBOMs, or DevSecOps security tooling.
• Experience with architecture governance, software factories, platform engineering, modernization, enterprise transformation, or INCOSE certifications.
