Principal Java Developer

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications and distributed systems.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical designs and production-quality code.
• Build and operate Java and Spring Boot backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Develop responsive, component-driven front-end applications with React.
• Deploy cloud-native services and support them throughout their operational lifecycle.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, and developers in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications; the role specifies 6+ years of experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Java 11 or 17, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Production experience with microservices, React, SQL, relational databases, CI/CD, Git workflows, and at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, EAD holder, or H-1B transfer candidate. New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka, RabbitMQ, or comparable streaming platforms.
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of eventual consistency, CAP trade-offs, idempotency, and saga patterns.
• Experience with automation testing and test-driven or behavior-driven development.
