AI Engineering Specialist (AI)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Base salary: CAD 108,750–152,250 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Variable Incentive Pay program.

What you will do

• Work with Finance, Sales, Legal, HR, Operations, and Engineering support teams to identify high-value AI use cases and define measurable outcomes.
• Prototype and ship AI solutions with Python, LLM APIs, Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, and Anthropic Claude.
• Build agents and copilots with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, M365, custom plugins, and declarative agents.
• Deploy and operate agent applications across Azure and AWS using containerized and serverless services, monitoring, state management, and cost controls.
• Implement RAG over enterprise content with Azure AI Search, Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, OpenSearch, vector search, and semantic search.
• Create self-service templates, playbooks, evaluations, human-in-the-loop workflows, and guardrailed building blocks for business users.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in software, AI, or data engineering, or technical consulting, with hands-on delivery of production solutions.
• Strong Python skills and experience integrating LLM APIs and building agentic or RAG workflows.
• Experience deploying applications to Azure and/or AWS using containerized or serverless patterns.
• Ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences and translate requirements between business and engineering teams.
• Ability to apply data protection, access control, Responsible AI, and cloud security practices in enterprise deployments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, AWS agent tooling, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, M365 Copilot extensibility, or Power Platform.
• Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks and protocols such as MCP.
• AWS or Microsoft Azure AI certifications.
• Experience with evaluation frameworks, enterprise security controls, or security- and compliance-sensitive organizations.
