Staff Data Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote - Canada

Annual base salary: CA$131,000–CA$164,300, plus potential equity and discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead architecture and development of the enterprise data platform across ingestion, modeling, storage, orchestration, governance, and cost optimization.
• Design and maintain pipelines for survey data, MDR events and alerts, and agent business intelligence data.
• Implement Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medallion Architecture layers for analytics, reporting, and AI, including a scalable Gold BI layer.
• Deliver integrations across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including identity integrations with Auth0 and Okta.
• Strengthen observability with metrics, data lineage, SLAs, SLOs, and alerting across pipelines, storage, and workflows.
• Lead lifecycle management, GDPR compliance, backup, archival, and technical mentoring for Senior Data Engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on data engineering experience with distributed systems and modern data architecture.
• Experience leading complex data initiatives, making architecture decisions, and mentoring senior engineers.
• Strong expertise in scalability, resiliency, performance, security, and cost-efficient system design.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, Spark, EMR, Kubernetes, Python, SQL, and data modeling.
• Experience with Iceberg, Parquet, Docker, CI/CD, GitFlow, DevOps practices, and DataOps covering versioning, lifecycle management, quality checks, and governance.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional influence skills.

Nice to have

• TypeScript for platform services and tooling, or Go for Kubernetes-based services.
• Experience with Trino or Presto, graph engines, search systems, BI semantic layers, or medallion architectures.
• Background in cybersecurity, SIEM, or event-driven systems.
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum.
