Associate Counsel - Baltimore, MD

Location: Remote work is available only within a commutable distance of the Baltimore, MD office.

Annual salary: $118,900–$186,550

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in Maryland courts and handle other first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research applicable laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions on liability, damages, and claim value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations under oath, trials, and dispositive hearings.
• Travel as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the Maryland Bar and an active license in good standing to practice law in Maryland required.
• Maintain applicable licensing and Continuing Legal Education requirements.
• 2–6+ years of related litigation experience in insurance defense, defense, and/or personal injury.
• Strong legal writing, organization, prioritization, multitasking, conflict-resolution, and ability to apply complex technical and procedural information.
