Data Science Associate (Part-Time) (AI)

Location: Remote position with flexibility to work from the Crystal City office in Arlington, Virginia; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The part-time engagement is expected to run from September 2026 through May 2027, with project-based hours varying according to project needs.

Anticipated hourly rate: $45–$50 USD.

What you will do

• Build cloud applications and data pipelines with platform-as-a-service and open-source tools.
• Develop visualizations, dashboards, and reports using open-source and business intelligence tools.
• Collect, validate, interpret, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
• Assist with computer modeling, forecasting, and the development of data accuracy systems.
• Create replicable, well-documented code, review and optimize code written by others, and maintain shared development environments.
• Coordinate project support with senior management and clients and present content at internal and external meetings.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with enrollment in a PhD program.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud platforms.
• Proficiency with database technologies such as MySQL and MS SQL Server.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, collaborate across functions, and work independently on moderately complex assignments.
• Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis is required.
• Employment-based visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available; certain projects may have additional residency requirements.

Nice to have

• Hands-on exposure to the Azure OpenAI API.
• Knowledge of Python web frameworks such as Django or Flask.
• Familiarity with generative AI tools and practical applications.
• Interest in developing innovative tools for data-driven applications.
