Senior Claims Examiner

Location: Primarily hybrid with in-office attendance at least two days per week for candidates near an office; qualified remote candidates may also be considered. The role can be based in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Manhattan, Scottsdale, or West Hartford, United States.

Salary: $80,000–$125,000 per year

What you will do

• Adjudicate assigned claims within delegated authority and resolve moderate to complex commercial general liability claims.
• Manage all phases of litigation, including defense counsel deployment and litigation best practices.
• Document claim files with correspondence, notes, legal filings, and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and regulations.
• Draft coverage letters, including reservation-of-rights and denial letters.
• Analyze claim documentation and legal filings to establish accurate reserves and escalate claims when required.
• Identify emerging exposures, claims trends, and suspected fraudulent claims, and support claims projects.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of claims-handling experience in commercial general liability with an insurance carrier.
• Advanced knowledge of claims analysis, adjusting practices, claims documentation standards, and legal filings.
• Proven ability to negotiate settlements for moderate to complex claims.
• Experience mentoring and training other claims examiners.
• Advanced analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Active insurance adjuster’s license required. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
