Location: Greater Seattle Area; applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees

Salary: $123,714.00–$173,199.60 for Colorado applicants; $134,961.00–$188,945.40 for Washington applicants. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

  • Develop and sustain control system algorithms for spacecraft conducting sophisticated missions.
  • Prototype algorithms, perform control architecture trade studies, and conduct linear stability analyses.
  • Develop and maintain flight software, simulation models, and automated tools for requirements, configuration, and performance analysis.
  • Implement controls algorithms and subsystem models in integrated six-degree-of-freedom simulations using Rust, C/C++, and Python.
  • Integrate and test software in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, structures, fluids, mechanisms, and spacecraft systems engineers to define interfaces and achieve system-level design closure.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering or Physics with 5+ years of experience, or an M.S. with 3+ years of experience.
  • Established experience developing GN&C algorithms for flight and attitude control using classical and modern control methods.
  • Knowledge of frequency-domain analysis, controller stability derivatives, stability margins, spacecraft dynamics, flexible-body dynamics, and slosh dynamics.
  • Experience designing control laws and control allocation for aerospace vehicle actuators.
  • Hands-on C/C++ development experience and understanding of software and data configuration management.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechatronic, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience with PID, Phase-Plane, H-Infinity, lead and lag compensators, or dynamic inversion.
  • Experience with reaction control systems, thrust vector control, electric propulsion, astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, or RPOD.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo, hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, real-time flight software, or GN&C flight hardware.
  • Rust coding experience and linear stability analysis in Matlab.
