Utilities Engineer, HVAC, Ammonia & Plant Systems (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Lead the engineering, operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of clean steam, purified water, WFI, HVAC, plant steam, ammonia refrigeration, process gases, electrical, water treatment, and related utility systems.
• Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, manufacturing, automation, quality assurance, validation, reliability, and project engineering teams.
• Prepare user requirements, risk and safety assessments, technical specifications, operating procedures, system drawings, and validation documentation.
• Manage the utility reliability program, including CMMS data integrity, preventive maintenance, spare parts, equipment lifecycle improvements, and asset management plans.
• Monitor safety, quality, reliability, maintenance, downtime, and operational performance KPIs using control systems, reports, dashboards, and metrics.
• Support capital-project shutdowns, system tie-ins, commissioning, validation, startup, HVAC improvements, ammonia safety, incident response, and leakage-rate calculations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field; a master’s degree may substitute for some experience.
• At least 5 years of utilities or facilities engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 3 years with a master’s degree.
• Strong knowledge of clean and plant utility systems, HVAC, ammonia refrigeration, mechanical systems, pumps, valves, sanitary connections, supply loops, and process controls.
• Knowledge of ASME BPE, ISPE Baseline Guides, USP, EU GMP, ISO standards, CFRs, OSHA, EPA policies, and PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements.
• Experience with mid-to-large pharmaceutical capital projects, quality management, change control, investigations, CAPA, OOT, validation, and CMMS.
• Ability to solve complex problems, manage contractors, collaborate across departments, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Experience with MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Experience with biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and utility reliability programs.
