AI Engineer (Public Sector)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; flexible hybrid work environment with offices in Reston, VA and Austin, TX. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required U.S. government authorizations.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and deploy AI solutions for U.S. Government customers.
• Develop prototypes combining generative and predictive AI capabilities, including agentic workflows and LLM fine-tuning.
• Build generalized solutions for longer-term implementation alongside rapid proof-of-concept applications.
• Develop interfaces and applications for customer use of AI solutions.
• Work directly with customers and subject matter experts to translate AI/ML concepts into practical language and outcomes.
• Support pre-sales activities and research cutting-edge applications of generative AI and agentic capabilities.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Secret security clearance required; TS with SCI eligibility preferred.
• At least four years of professional experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field with a strong background in applied AI/ML.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience developing prototypes with UI SDKs such as Flask or Streamlit.
• Knowledge of generative AI concepts including RAG, prompt engineering, agents, structured output, multimodal LLMs, and embedding models.
• Experience with LLM frameworks, APIs, databases, and retrieval technologies such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Transformers, OpenAI, GraphQL, FastAPI, Pinecone, FAISS, OpenSearch, and Neo4j.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java and HTML.
• Experience working with the Department of Defense, U.S. Intelligence Community, or U.S. Federal Civilian agencies.
• Experience training and deploying predictive AI models in a government context.
• TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
