Senior Associate, Alternative Operations

Salary: $125,000–$140,500 per year, plus discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Manage settlement oversight and full lifecycle operations for private and originated loan trades, loan-based financings, preferred equity, and bespoke structures.
• Coordinate deal settlement, funding, wire instructions, cash movements, loan amendments, restructurings, share conversions, and other non-standard lifecycle events.
• Review credit agreements and operationalize accrual mechanics, indices, payment schedules, maturities, and other key terms.
• Oversee outsourced service providers handling settlements, asset setup, waterfall calculations, P&I processing, reconciliations, document custody, and related back-office functions.
• Partner with Portfolio Managers, Account Managers, Alternatives Finance, custodians, vendors, and banking institutions on reporting, cash management, and client support.
• Lead process improvement initiatives, including Appian workflow development, control enhancements, service upgrades, and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant operations experience across private or directly originated debt and/or equity.
• Strong knowledge of term loans, revolvers, delayed draws, privately originated debt and equity, loan agency functions, settlement, amendments, restructurings, and complex control or pledge agreements.
• Hands-on experience reviewing credit agreements, calculating interest and accruals, and explaining deal mechanics to internal stakeholders and service providers.
• Experience with transfer agents, separately managed accounts, private equity and hedge fund structures, alternative financing arrangements, waterfalls, and total return swaps.
• Understanding of fund accounting and lifecycle-event accounting, including principal and interest, expenses, and capital contributions or distributions.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience managing custody, accounting, and other external service-provider relationships.
