Software Engineer (Embedded Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and test firmware and middleware for quantum computing hardware.
• Investigate technical issues, develop solutions, and lead components within the quantum computing software stack.
• Benchmark, profile, and optimize quantum computing processes, algorithms, and software.
• Collaborate with electronic engineers, physicists, hardware designers, and software developers.
• Evaluate, document, build, and maintain the systems you design.
• Take responsibility for major features in the quantum computing software stack.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, debugging, testing, maintaining, and profiling commercial-quality embedded software.
• Strong programming experience in C and either C++ or Rust, plus expertise in Python.
• Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers, real-time constraints, and time-critical system design.
• Experience implementing or integrating Precision Time Protocol (PTP/IEEE 1588) and designing low-level schedulers for hardware time alignment.
• Hands-on experience with I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, TCP/UDP, Git, collaborative development, and code reviews.
• Strong communication, collaboration, documentation, and pragmatic decision-making skills; startup or dynamic-environment experience.

Nice to have

• Bare-metal programming experience.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and signal generators.
• FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog.
• RF testing and DSP experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
