Junior Backend Engineer (Go/Kotlin)

Location: Helsinki, Finland. The role is based in a tech hub; fully remote work or relocation may not be supported.

What you will do

• Build and improve backend services supporting inventory, purchasing, warehouse operations, pricing, and fulfillment.
• Write reliable, maintainable, and well-tested production code using Go or Kotlin.
• Learn to design, deploy, monitor, and operate backend services in production.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and operations teams.
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and operational responsibilities while gradually taking ownership of features and services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to learn, debug, and deliver code while validating and understanding the resulting solutions.

Requirements

• Foundation in software engineering and backend development.
• Experience with Go, Kotlin, or another modern programming language through work, internships, studies, or personal projects.
• Understanding of APIs, databases, testing, and maintainable code.
• Interest in learning how production systems are built, deployed, monitored, and operated.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and collaborate effectively.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools and taking ownership of produced code.

Nice to have

• Experience with databases, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Exposure to Kafka, Snowflake, or other data and streaming technologies.
• Experience with forecasting, optimization, scheduling, or data-heavy applications.
• Background in grocery, retail, logistics, supply chain, or warehouse technology.
