Engineering Manager, Integrated Major Project Development

Location: Pomona, California, US; hybrid work with required residence and work in California. The role may require extended work at an alternate SCE location and up to 20% travel throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation may apply.

What you will do

• Lead the Interconnection Customer Project Development engineering team for generation and large customer/load interconnections above 50 kV.
• Coordinate engineering, system planning, project management, contracts, environmental, land, protection, telecommunications, controls, construction, and customer-facing organizations.
• Develop grid strategies and lead initiatives covering how transmission, subtransmission, and substation systems are planned, designed, operated, and maintained.
• Manage project portfolios, prioritize work, allocate resources, and monitor performance.
• Lead equipment design, modifications, troubleshooting support, and initiatives that improve safety, reliability, throughput, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
• Set engineering team goals, assign projects, manage contract engineers, and coach employees on professional development.

Requirements

• Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising engineering work.
• Experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Knowledge of electric utility transmission, subtransmission, distribution, and substation systems.
• Experience coordinating technical stakeholders and engineering deliverables, including project scope, cost, schedule, and delivery milestones.
• Must work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.
• Must pass a NERC/CIP-related Personnel Risk Assessment or Background Investigation and complete required training before receiving unescorted access.

Nice to have

• Substation engineering and design experience, including scope, cost, and schedule development.
• Experience with customer interconnection tariffs, agreements, or processes such as WDAT or TOT.
• Experience presenting technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience leading technical work or managing engineers and technical teams.
