Design/Drafting Specialist (Electrical Utility Design)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Tulare Service Center in Tulare, California; employees are generally required to work and reside in California. The schedule includes either a 9/80 alternate work schedule or 40 hours across five days. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $41.92–$62.84 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop complex electrical designs and scaled work order maps using Autodesk Utility Design and Design Manager.
• Create physical, schematic, wiring, and single-line diagrams using CAD software and substation standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, planners, and substation engineers on project scope, alternatives, modifications, and larger residential and commercial projects.
• Assign work to contractors, validate labor hours, and review the quality of design deliverables.
• Support design, operations, maintenance, safety, process documentation, testing, training, and project stabilization.
• Provide subject matter expertise, conduct standards meetings, and mentor junior designers.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience preparing and maintaining detailed design drawings, schematics, or specifications using CAD or computer-aided engineering software.
• Ability to independently develop single-line diagrams and detailed electrical drawings.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement at the Tulare Service Center and reside in California.
• Ability to protect physical, financial, cybersecurity, customer, proprietary, and confidential information.

Nice to have

• Experience with Autodesk Utility Design, SAP, S4HANA, WorkIt, or SharePoint.
• AutoCAD certification.
• Experience with permit requests, electric utility design, or customer service.
