Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, with approximately 25% travel to customer sites across the United States and quarterly travel to the Menlo Park headquarters.

What you will do

• Design and implement RAG pipelines grounded in customer clinical data while managing accuracy, safety, retrieval latency, and data governance.
• Build secure tool-calling and Model Context Protocol integrations connecting AI agents to EHRs, data warehouses, and operational tools.
• Develop production Python code with LangChain, LangSmith, and modern LLM frameworks.
• Execute end-to-end deployments, including infrastructure setup, integration testing, monitoring, cutover planning, and go-live execution.
• Monitor production agents, respond to incidents, troubleshoot customer issues, and implement reliability improvements.
• Act as the technical partner for healthcare customers, explaining system architecture, capabilities, limitations, and solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python and production development skills.
• Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and advanced patterns including RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, and LLM-as-judge.
• Experience integrating APIs, databases, or enterprise systems, including asynchronous patterns, error handling, and reliability engineering.
• Experience with MCP or similar orchestration frameworks, healthcare IT standards such as FHIR or HL7, and EHRs including Epic, Cerner, or Athena.
• Production infrastructure experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, incident response, and deployment of reliable AI systems.

• Experience with mission-critical or safety-sensitive systems.
• Startup or high-growth technology experience, particularly in technical ownership or leadership roles.
