Technical Lead (AI)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and evolution of distributed systems on GCP, including Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery.
• Make technical decisions across Go, Python, and TypeScript, including service boundaries, data models, and technology trade-offs.
• Lead hands-on integration of open-source LLMs, embeddings, and speech models, including prompt optimization, evaluation, and safety practices.
• Improve observability, reliability, and scalability for event-driven ingestion and automated QA pipelines handling call transcripts and healthcare data.
• Write production code, lead major technical initiatives, identify gaps, and unblock delivery.
• Explain technical constraints and strategy to Product, Design, and Clinical Operations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years leading projects or working as a Tech Lead.
• Staff-level scope or equivalent technical impact, with hands-on production LLM experience.
• Expert proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript/Node, with the ability to review code across the stack.
• Deep experience with distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes or Cloud Run, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including RFC writing and explaining technical strategy to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with healthcare or regulated environments is relevant, including HIPAA, SOC 2, FHIR, HL7, or Medplum.

Nice to have

• Applied machine learning or AI infrastructure experience.
• Experience hosting or integrating open-source models such as vLLM or Ollama.
• Strong understanding of RAG architectures.
