Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Arlington, VA, United States; occasional on-site customer travel is expected, roughly 10% of the time.

Base salary: $145,000–$180,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Design and build connectors and integrations in the core Django application.
• Work directly with customer technical teams to scope integration requirements.
• Write tested, reviewed, maintainable production code in the shared codebase.
• Identify recurring integration patterns and turn them into reusable platform capabilities.
• Debug issues in live customer environments and trace them to root causes in the core application.
• Partner with core engineering on platform-wide connector architecture decisions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python expertise.
• Strong experience with Django or a comparable backend framework.
• Experience building durable integrations with external APIs.
• Strong debugging skills and the ability to work in an unfamiliar codebase.
• Ability to scope technical requirements directly with customers and communicate clear implementation plans.
• Comfort with occasional travel for on-site customer engagements.

Nice to have

• Experience in forward-deployed, integrations, or platform engineering roles.
• AWS infrastructure experience, including RDS or Redis.
• Familiarity with MLOps tools or cybersecurity/GRC platforms.
• Experience in legaltech, cybersecurity, or other regulated markets.
• Experience at an early- or growth-stage startup.
