What you will do

• Design and teach cooking school classes and attract an audience.
• Shop for classes and assist with ingredient preparation, setup, class delivery, and recipe testing.
• Assist guest chefs during cooking school classes.
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and properly functioning kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Explain cooking techniques, food taste profiles, culinary trends, and Central Market products to diverse audiences.
• Provide customer service and use suggestive selling techniques to support sales.

Requirements

• Previous food preparation experience is required.
• Availability must include days, evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
• Ability to communicate clearly and speak effectively to large groups.
• Ability to read and interpret recipes, safety rules, equipment instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly for distances of up to 500 feet.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail kitchen environment with temperature extremes, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.

Nice to have

• Two to five years of related restaurant or catering experience.
• Culinary school coursework, a culinary degree, or related education.
• Extensive knowledge of food and culinary trends.
