Data Scientist - Linear Optimization (All Genders)

Location: Munich, Germany; hybrid with 60% onsite and 40% home office. An option is available to work abroad for up to 20 days in approved countries.

Salary: €63,300–€77,400 per year, depending on experience, skills, and impact.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and integrate linear and mixed-integer optimization models into production systems.
• Build tools for cost-efficient planning across a logistics network processing more than 1,000,000 parcels weekly.
• Analyze data, run simulations, and present actionable insights to engineering, product, and operations stakeholders.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure solution quality and performance through testing, validation, and production monitoring.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience solving linear optimization and mixed-integer problems.
• 1+ years of experience with commercial solvers, preferably Gurobi, for building and solving optimization models.
• Advanced mathematical modeling and simulation experience, plus proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
• Practical experience with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
