Accounting Analytics & BI Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid policy requires staff to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $220,000–$270,000 USD

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain data models and orchestration pipelines with dbt and Airflow.
• Develop dashboards, visualizations, and data applications for self-serve stakeholder access.
• Translate Accounting and Finance questions into metrics, analytics, and actionable recommendations.
• Build analytics supporting financial reporting, the close process, reconciliations, and scenario analysis.
• Define AI-powered accounting automation opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Champion data quality, testing, and documentation across the data stack.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL and Python or another object-oriented programming language.
• Experience with data modeling and orchestration tools such as dbt and Airflow.
• Experience with data visualization and BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Hex, or Streamlit.
• Experience designing self-serve analytics experiences for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience partnering with Finance or Accounting teams to turn data into clear analysis and financial outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI to improve or automate analytical processes.
• Experience building data applications and working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience with financial impact modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Ability to take initiative and create clarity in ambiguous situations.
