Principal Data Analyst (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 99,000–145,200 annual base salary for Canada-based roles; offers may exceed this range based on experience and geographic location. Additional compensation may include annual cash bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with Product, Engineering, Strategy, Research, and business leaders to identify opportunities and solve complex problems through data analysis.
• Define product measurement frameworks, including north-star metrics, KPIs, OKRs, metric trees, instrumentation, guardrails, and launch measurement.
• Analyze large and complex datasets, lead rigorous experimentation, and communicate actionable insights to technical and executive audiences.
• Use AI-assisted coding and analysis tools to develop SQL and Python workflows, automate recurring analysis, and prototype lightweight data applications or assistants.
• Build canonical datasets, semantic models, governed metric definitions, dashboards, and self-service analytics using tools such as Power BI and Looker.
• Partner with Data Engineering on data quality, lineage, observability, scalable pipelines, version control, testing, code review, and reproducible development.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in large-scale data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, preferably in technology or SaaS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline, with demonstrated principal or staff-level scope.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and analysis tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling; experience with Airflow, dbt, or Snowflake.
• Experience with semantic layers, governed metrics, BI and visualization tools, statistical techniques, modeling methodologies, and trustworthy self-service analytics.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in a SaaS company or platform engineering organization.
• Experience analyzing AI/ML or agentic products, including evaluation frameworks and quality, task success, latency, reliability, or cost trade-offs.
• Experience building internal data products, analytical applications, or LLM-enabled tools connected to governed enterprise data.
• Familiarity with hirify.global’s product portfolio and a master’s degree in a quantitative field.
