IM&E Specialist (PLC)

Location: Onsite in Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Salary: $48.65 per hour plus a 10% bonus target

What you will do

• Maintain, inspect, test, repair, and calibrate electrical, electronic, pneumatic, instrumentation, metering, and control systems.
• Install and program electronic instruments, sensing elements, wiring, tubing, fittings, computerized controls, and programmable controllers.
• Write, troubleshoot, and update PLC logic and control circuitry to improve equipment operation and minimize downtime.
• Maintain and repair motors, circuit breakers, transformers, generators, and high-voltage switchgear protective relaying.
• Monitor and operate boilers, chillers, steam, feedwater, and chilled-water distribution equipment when assigned.
• Create technical documentation, work orders, maintenance records, diagrams, drawings, and control plans; support new plant installations and customer facilities.

Requirements

• Technical or trade school degree in electronics, computer science, or equivalent industry training and experience.
• At least four years of progressive technician experience in central plants, power generation, or process plants.
• Ability to write logic in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram languages.
• Experience diagnosing existing PLC programs, performing preventive maintenance, optimizing control logic, and implementing system updates.
• Experience creating and maintaining system schematics, wiring diagrams, programming logic, and other technical documentation.
• Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, perform mandatory overtime, and take rotating on-call assignments, including weekends, back shifts, and holidays.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of electrical safety and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
• Familiarity with refrigeration, thermodynamics, process flow diagrams, and control and instrumentation diagrams.
• Experience troubleshooting cogeneration plant instrumentation, controls, and electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to use multimeters, dead weight testers, combustion analyzers, frequency generators, and counters.
