Technical Lead, Application Development (Workday)

Location: New York City, NY or Englewood Cliffs, NJ; hybrid with 3 days onsite.

Salary: USD 150,000–180,000 yearly

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing support of Workday-centered Core HR and Payroll solutions.
• Design scalable and secure SaaS, custom, and integrated solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Lead delivery from technical design through build, testing, deployment, release planning, and post-go-live support.
• Oversee Workday integrations, data flows, platform performance, environment management, and root-cause resolution.
• Build and lead blended teams of internal engineers, architects, and onshore/offshore delivery partners.
• Partner with HR, Payroll, Time, Data, Product, Legal, Privacy, Security, and Enterprise Technology stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading medium-to-large engineering delivery teams.
• 4+ years of Workday development experience, including at least one full Workday HCM implementation in a senior lead developer capacity.
• Hands-on expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Workday APIs, Workday Extend or the Workday Build Ecosystem, Prism data ingestion pipelines, job scheduling, and large-scale integrations.
• Experience configuring Workday self-service portals, delivering HR and Payroll solutions, integrating HR data and benefits, and connecting multiple SaaS platforms.
• Experience with Agile teams, CI/CD, DevOps delivery models, automated testing, governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer-facing digital businesses.
• Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors, API management platforms such as MuleSoft, Apigee, or Kong, and API-first integration.
• Familiarity with UI/UX, WCAG accessibility standards, cloud platforms, React, Java, and Workday Canvas Kit.
