Focus on briefing AUSAs, identifying the strongest legal arguments, and monitoring developments affecting assigned cases.

What you will do

  • Oversee habeas corpus matters under 28 USC §2255, including receiving and docketing motions, calendaring deadlines, coordinating file collection, and tracking timely responses.
  • Prepare draft responses and legal documents for attorney review and signature.
  • Draft proposed orders for judges and magistrates.
  • Analyze statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency rules, regulations, and legal research materials.
  • Brief Assistant United States Attorneys on relevant facts, legal issues, and case law.
  • Support large-scale projects arising from new judicial precedent or federal legislation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Admission to a state bar.
  • Valid United States driver’s license and dependable vehicle.
  • Ability to use law library resources and online research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and CourtLink.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
