Stimulator/Message Software Engineer (C++)

Location: On-site in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, with at least 4 days in the office; potential hybrid flexibility. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $114,000–$231,000 per year, with ranges varying by experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Architect, refactor, implement, and test mission-critical tactical systems software.
• Develop C++ software using Kafka, DDS, Protobuf, and other messaging technologies.
• Integrate software components into complex DoD environments, tactical systems, and test sites.
• Design software and hardware interfaces and contribute to user, functional, and technical requirements.
• Prototype solutions using AI/ML, distributed processing, modeling, and modern cloud-native or tactical-edge architectures.
• Collaborate with software and systems engineers, customers, and leadership on requirements, reviews, schedules, costs, and technical progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of full-time professional software engineering experience.
• Professional experience with C, C++, Python, and/or Java in Linux environments, including shell scripting.
• Understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, software design patterns, APIs, networking protocols, SQL, and relational databases.
• Experience with Agile development, Git configuration management, DevSecOps practices, and the software lifecycle from requirements through deployment.
• Ability to work on-site in Mount Laurel, NJ and obtain or maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with AEGIS or SSDS tactical systems and related source libraries.
• Experience with Make, Maven, Ant, Jenkins, Jira, Atlassian tools, MBSE, Azure, AWS, GCP, virtualization, or containerization.
• Experience with AI coding assistants, testing frameworks, React, Angular, Vue, Storybook, or mock-testing tools.
• Experience with big-data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Cassandra.
