Information Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Perform hands-on security engineering supporting Navy Risk Management Framework and Authority to Operate requirements.
• Implement and validate security controls across Linux servers, virtualization, network, and logging environments.
• Harden systems according to DISA STIGs, Navy security requirements, and RMF controls.
• Analyze, remediate, and validate vulnerability findings, including root-cause analysis.
• Configure, secure, and troubleshoot RHEL/Linux, VMware, Cisco Catalyst, and Cisco ACI environments.
• Support centralized logging with Splunk and Cribl, validate technical evidence, and automate repetitive security tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, network engineering, or information assurance.
• Demonstrated experience supporting RMF and ATO activities in a DoD environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with RHEL/Linux administration, security hardening, VMware, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco ACI, Splunk, and Cribl or comparable logging technologies.
• Experience implementing DISA STIG requirements and performing vulnerability remediation and security validation.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain additional program-specific access is required.

Nice to have

• U.S. Navy or DoD mission-systems experience and familiarity with Navy RMF processes, ATO assessments, or eMASS.
• Experience with Tenable/Nessus, SCAP/STIG compliance tooling, and infrastructure log integration through Cribl.
• PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting experience for security automation.
• Security+, CISSP, CySA+, Linux, VMware, or Cisco certification.
