Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, averaging 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, MD office; flexibility is required for schedule changes.

Salary: $128,887–$180,000 annually.

What you will do

• Create, review, and edit authorization documentation in accordance with federal and DoD policy.
• Implement DoD system accreditation processes and support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management.
• Assess operational risks of integrated open-source, GOTS, and COTS software components.
• Use vulnerability management systems, automated security scanning tools, and accreditation record systems.
• Interpret and apply DISA STIGs and SRGs, establish defensible security processes, and manage compliance activities.
• Recommend system-level security solutions, guide development teams, and support trusted relationships across external systems and architectures.

Requirements

• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.
• 9+ years of ISSE experience on large multi-tiered programs with a related bachelor’s degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Experience implementing DoD system accreditation processes; DIACAP is acceptable and RMF is preferred.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and services, computer architectures, and network topologies.
• Understanding of control inheritance and artifact generation using NIST SP 800-53.
• DoD 8140 compliance with IAT Level II certification, such as SSCP, Security+, CCNA-Security, or GSEC.
• Experience with DISA STIGs and SRGs, vulnerability management systems, mitigation and compliance processes, and automated security scanning results.
• Hands-on experience navigating workflows, uploading artifacts, and managing POA&Ms in eMASS, Xacta, or an equivalent RMF system of record.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate with diverse audiences, learn new concepts, and work in a hybrid environment.

• CISSP-ISSEP certification.
