Information Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid in Columbia, Maryland, US; average of 1–2 days per week in the Columbia office

Salary: $128,887–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Create, review, and edit authorization documentation in accordance with federal and DoD policies.
• Implement DoD system accreditation processes, including the Risk Management Framework.
• Assess operational risks for open-source, GOTS, and COTS software components.
• Use vulnerability management systems, automated security scanning tools, and accreditation record systems.
• Provide security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management support.
• Recommend system-level security solutions and support trusted relationships across external systems and architectures.

Requirements

• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.
• 9+ years of ISSE experience with large multi-tiered programs and a related bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience and education combinations.
• Experience with DoD accreditation processes, preferably RMF, and knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 control inheritance and artifact generation.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, computer architectures, and network topologies.
• Experience with DISA STIGs and SRGs, vulnerability management, mitigation and compliance processes, and automated security scanning.
• Hands-on experience managing POA&Ms and artifacts in eMASS, Xacta, or an equivalent RMF system of record.

Nice to have

• CISSP-ISSEP certification.
• BASH, Kubernetes, Visio or draw.io, RHEL, and AWS Cloud experience.
