Alternate Facility Security Officer (Defense Technology)

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, with at least 5 days per week in the office

Salary: $74,000–$116,000 per year

What you will do

• Administer the Security Information Management System (SIMS), maintaining accurate security records, personnel rosters, facility assets, and classified holdings.
• Lead classified shipping and receiving operations, including inspection, logging, secure storage, packaging, labeling, and outbound transportation coordination.
• Manage physical security operations, including inspections, container combinations, access control systems, emergency procedures, and escort functions.
• Process personnel security applications and clearance records through SF86, NBIS, DISS, and related systems.
• Conduct audits and self-inspections, prepare data for DCSA assessments, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Act as the designated backup to the resident FSO and assume facility security responsibilities during their absence.

Requirements

• Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent full-time professional experience.
• At least 3 years of full-time professional experience, preferably in government or government-contractor security.
• Working knowledge of SIMS, DISS, NISS, NBIS, STEPP, or e-APP.
• Knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, DAAPM, security directives, manuals, and Executive Orders.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with information systems and familiarity with the ISSM role.
