Alternate Facility Security Officer

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC, US, with on-site requirements at the Northern Virginia facility in Chantilly, Virginia after facility standup. The role begins as hybrid/remote during an approximately 12-month pre-accreditation phase.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end personnel security lifecycle, including clearance actions, SF-86 support, reinvestigations, adjudication follow-up, and access records.
• Administer SCI and SAP access programs, including nominations, indoctrinations, debriefings, and coordination with government security representatives and Program Security Officers.
• Run security briefing, education, foreign contact, foreign travel, adverse information, insider threat, and visit authorization programs.
• Serve as the designated AFSO of record and perform FSO responsibilities during the FSO's absence.
• Manage physical security operations, classified document control, destruction records, keys, locks, security containers, and end-of-day security checks.
• Support DCSA reviews, vulnerability assessments, self-inspections, DD-254 reviews, NISPOM documentation, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Active, fully adjudicated Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and SAP access eligibility required at the time of hire; interim clearances are not accepted.
• U.S. citizenship required, with no exceptions.
• At least 5 years of progressive personnel security and industrial security experience in a cleared DoD contractor environment.
• Current, hands-on proficiency with DISS and working knowledge of NISPOM, including practical application in an active industrial security program.
• Experience administering SCI access, reporting adverse information and foreign contact or travel incidents, and conducting security briefings and debriefings.
• Current CDSE FSO certification or demonstrable progress toward completion, together with strong written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Prior designation as an AFSO of record under an active Facility Clearance and direct DCSA interface experience.
• Experience with IC contractor environments, multiple SCI compartments, SAP programs, or insider threat processes.
• Experience building personnel security programs, procedures, records systems, and training programs from the ground up.
• Familiarity with ICD 705-compliant SCIF physical security operations.
• Current Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph; willingness to complete a polygraph is advantageous.
