Azure IoT Solutions Engineer

Location: Remote; occasional travel to client or manufacturing sites may be required.

Salary: Starting compensation of $140,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Design, build, integrate, test, deploy, and troubleshoot end-to-end IoT solutions spanning devices, edge systems, Azure services, applications, data, networks, and security.
• Develop APIs, message processors, event-driven services, telemetry pipelines, device-management functions, command-and-control workflows, and reusable technical prototypes.
• Provision and operate Azure IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Service, IoT Edge, Event Hubs, Event Grid, Service Bus, Functions, App Service, Container Apps, API Management, storage, databases, and monitoring services.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, environment configuration, scaling, availability, disaster recovery, networking, and cost-management controls.
• Integrate industrial devices and gateways using MQTT, AMQP, HTTPS, and OPC UA, including provisioning, offline operation, diagnostics, and secure updates.
• Implement secure development, identity and certificate management, vulnerability remediation, SBOM generation, security monitoring, testing, documentation, and operational-readiness activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, Azure cloud engineering, DevOps, IoT engineering, systems engineering, or a related role.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure IoT, connected products, edge, industrial, or distributed application solutions.
• Proficiency in one or more of C#, .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node, C, or C++, plus strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with Azure IoT services, REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, event-driven systems, containers, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, networking, identity, monitoring, and automated testing.
• Experience with MQTT, AMQP, HTTPS, OPC UA, X.509 certificates, PKI, Key Vault, secure provisioning, vulnerability remediation, SBOM generation, and cross-functional or client-facing delivery.

Nice to have

• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, operational technology, or connected-equipment environments.
• Experience with AKS, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Azure Data Explorer, embedded Linux, firmware integration, secure elements, or hardware security modules.
• Familiarity with IEC 62443, Defender for IoT, industrial network segmentation, the EU Cyber Resilience Act, SPDX, or CycloneDX.
